Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports is arranging narrators and information boards in some tourist spots in Nha Trang.

Confronted with the situation that some foreigners illegally work as tourist guides in tourist spots and say wrong things, Permanent Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Son Hai has recently commanded the provincial Department of Culture and Sports to arrange guides and narrators at tourist spots under the department’s management such as Ponagar Temple, Chong Rock and the provincial Museum. Besides, the department has been asked to coordinate with related units to introduce information to tourists in other places like Long Son Pagoda, Cathedral Church, Institute of Oceanography, etc.

Under the direction of the provincial People’s Committee, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports had a meeting with related units about arranging narrator staff and installing information boards in the above tourist sites. Meeting attenders have agreed to install information board written in Vietnamese, English, Russian and Chinese about establishment history of Long Son Pagoda and Cathedral Church in these places. The Institute of Oceanography which has a staff of Vietnamese narrators who can speak English, Russian and Chinese, also has agreed to install information boards or issue leaflets in English, Russian and Chinese for foreign visitors.

Destinations under the management of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports, including the provincial Vestige Preservation Center and the provincial Museum, have arranged narrators who can speak English, Russian and Chinese to introduce their information to foreign visitors. “We have recruited the narrator staff at Ponagar Temple and Chong Rock. Besides, more narrators will be taught Russian and Chinese”, said Nguyen Tuan Dung, deputy director of the provincial Vestige Preservation Center.

Before that, to prevent foreign tourist guides, the provincial Vestige Preservation Center posted up notice boards to ban foreign tourist guides at Ponagar Temple and Chong Rock and installed cameras to find out violators.

Beside above places, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports will check other destinations to install boards introducing information about them in four languages, including Vietnamese, English, Russian and Chinese.

Above drastic measures and inspections are expected to stop foreign tourist guides working illegally in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa.
