Many sports activities to be held during Lunar New Year festival 2018

On the occasion of Tet holidays 2018 (Lunar New Year 2018), apart from the cultural and art activities, Khanh Hoa will hold some interesting sports activities to serve the local and tourists during the holidays. The two main sports activities of Khanh Hoa often being held on Tet holidays are human chess competition and unicorn-lion-dragon dance. 

 

According to the recently-issued plan of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the activities prepared for Lunar New Year 2018 will take place from February 7 to February 25. Besides the music programs from February 17 to 20, the 2-4 Square (Nha Trang) is also the venue of two sports activities which are human chess competition and unicorn-lion-dragon dance. These activities are the combination of sports and performances of traditional martial art, which has been organized for over ten years and have become familiar to many Nha Trang people on Tet occasion.

 

 

Bich Quang Dojo (Khanh Hoa Children’s House) under Tho Phuoc Duong Co., Ltd. will take responsibility for the two activities. As said by martial art instructor Doan Duc Phuoc, Head Coach of Bich Quang Dojo (Khanh Hoa Children’s House), Deputy Head of the Unicorn – lion – dragon Dance Club of the provincial Cultural Center, around 40 traditional martial arts practitioners will perform unicorn – lion – dragon dances on February 15, 17, 18, 19, 20.

 

The human chess competitions were held over 20 times in more than ten years and have always created an interesting and enjoyable time to the spectators. Each chess match will reflect the intellectual abilities of the competitors. The skilled martial arts practitioners dressing costumes representing the chess pieces and performing beautiful martial arts techniques are also a typical feature of this activity.
