Vietnamese boxer wins historic gold at Asian Women's Boxing Championships 2017

Vietnamese boxer Nguyen Thi Tam has just won a historic gold medal for Vietnam's boxing at Asian Women's Boxing Championships 2017 recently held at Nguyen Du Competition House (Ho Chi Minh City). 
 

Vietnamese boxer Nguyen Thi Tam has just won a historic gold medal for Vietnam’s boxing at Asian Women’s Boxing Championships 2017 recently held at Nguyen Du Competition House (Ho Chi Minh City). 
 
The championships was participated by 107 boxers from 20 countries. The host Vietnam had five competitors qualifying for the finals. Finally, in the 51kg event, Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam defeated Pang Choi Mi of North Korea to claim gold. Other finalists of Vietnam won silver medals.

This has been the best achievement of Vietnamese female boxers. The previous best result of Vietnam had been the silver medal of Ngo Thi Phuong in the 48kg weight event at the 2008 Asian championships.
 
Vietnam team finished the championship with one gold, four silvers, and one bronze.
