Sanna Khanh Hoa – Bien Vietnam (Sanna KH-BVN) was just selected to represent the football clubs of Vietnam at Toyota Mekong Cup 2017 which is slated to take place in early December.

Sanna KH-BVN just played their final game at V-League 2017 some days ago. The team finished this year’s season at the sixth position. Although the final result did not meet the expectation, the whole team also showed their efforts through each match. “We missed many chances to gain a better result in the 2017 season partly because some players have still lacked in experience,” said Vo Dinh Tan, Heach Coach of Sanna KH-BVN.

According to Tan, Sanna KH-BVN has some days to rest before gathering to prepare for Toyota Mekong Cup 2017. The team will play the opening match of the first round against the champion of Cambodia at Hang Day Stadium on December 9. Afterwards, the two teams will meet again in Phnom Penh on December 13; the winner of the first round will qualify for the second round and play against Laos’ team in Laos on December 17.

Toyota Mekong Cup was held for the first time in 2014. This is a tournament for the football clubs of the Mekong region countries. Becamex Binh Duong was the representative of Vietnam at the 2014 tournament and was also won that year’s tournament.

Reportedly, at first, the tournament was intended only for the champions of the national tournaments. However, the regulation changed in 2016 which has allowed the participating countries to send their selected representative. In fact, Sanna KH-BVN was exceptionally promoted for Toyota Mekong Cup 2017 after all four teams which were the top four of V-League 2017 had refused to take part in the tournament.

“Being promoted to join Toyota Mekong Cup 2017 gives Sanna KH-BVN a great responsibility, a challenge and also a big chance to learn and exchange experience in a region tournament. Therefore, we will try our best and play with highest determination to get the best result,” said Tan.
