The 2017 badminton club open tournament of Khanh Hoa Province took place at the provincial Sports Competition House in October 27-29 with some new features. These changes created more attractive features for the tournament, better connecting the badminton players in and outside the province.

Mai Duc Chinh, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Badminton Federation, said that through 17 times of organization, the badminton club open tournament of Khanh Hoa has proved its attractiveness and partly helped to promote the badminton movement not only in Khanh Hoa but also in other provinces.

This year’s tournament had the participation of more players compared to the previous tournaments. Specifically, more than 250 male and female players of 13 teams of Khanh Hoa and 10 teams of other localities over the country joined the tournament.  Anh Duong Club, Huy Forza, Ly Ly, Passion, Naval Academy, Nha Trang Center of Culture and Sports, Green Planet, and Team Brother were the outstanding badminton clubs of Khanh Hoa taking part in the 2017 tournament. These units have been invested and developed quite well; have often participated in the city-level and province-level tournaments. Some clubs even formed a team to join the tournaments of the Central and Highlands or national movement tournaments. The familiar guest teams included Ninh Thuan, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Binh Dinh, and Ho Chi Minh City. The 2017 tournament saw the first participation of Fleet Hanoi and Long An.

The new features of this year’s tournament were two new events for players aged from 56 to 60 and players aged from 61. The event for whole team which seemed to be an internal event for the teams of Khanh Hoa often included in the previous tournament was also removed.

In the past, the badminton players of Khanh Hoa often stood out in the events for age groups 41-45 and 46-50. However, this year, there was a fierce competition from the teams of other provinces and cities like Hanoi, Ho Chinh Minh, Lam Dong, etc. In the first time of participation, the players of Fleet Hanoi won three gold medals. Vu Ba Manh Club, a new team of Ho Chi Minh City, also gained two gold medals in their debut at this tournament. “This is the first time we have joined this tournament although we have known it for a long time. The tournament is well organized and has a good quality. Hopefully, it will be maintained so that we have a playground to compete and exchange with each other,” said a player of Vu Ba Manh Club.

As stated by Vo Tan Binh, Chief of Khanh Hoa Provincial Badminton Federation, one of the elements creating the success of this tournament is the regular supports of the sponsors, such as Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company, Khanh Hoa Lottery Company, Forza, and Paramount Badminton.
