The National Junior Volleyball Club Tournament 2016 takes place in Ha Tinh Provincial Competition House from November 6 to 19. The tournament sees the competitions of eleven male teams and ten female teams from the provinces and cites. In the men’s event, the teams are divided into two groups and play in a round robin format. Sanna Khanh Hoa is in group A with Maseco Ho Chi Minh City (runner-up of 2015 National Junior Volleyball Club Tournament), the Fourth Corps, Ho Chi Minh City Police and the host Ha Tinh.
After four matches in the group round, Sanna Khanh Hoa had three wins over Ho Chi Minh City Police, Maseco Ho Chi Minh City and the Fourth Corps and one nail-biting loss to Ha Tinh. With these results, Sanna Khanh Hoa earns ten points and places second in group A, helping the team to gain ticket to enter semi-final.
According to the professionals, Sanna Khanh Hoa, coached by Thai Quang Lai (also the coach of the national young volleyball team) is competent to win the trophy. The team is holding the record of winning three consecutive championships at the national volleyball tournament for young players from 2014 to 2016. Every year, some quality athletes of Sanna Khanh Hoa are promoted to play for professional team, Sanest Khanh Hoa, and have effectively contributed to the achievements of Khanh Hoa’s volleyball at the national tournaments.
However, the team from the beach city has never secured the championship title at the national-level junior volleyball club tournament. Among six times taking part in this tournament, Sanna Khanh Hoa came in second place two times; finished fourth two times and fifth one time. Therefore, both coach and athletes of Sanna Khanh Hoa has determined and been exerting to achieve the first championship at this year’s tournament.
