According to Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Director of Nha Trang Center of Culture and Sports – Head of the organization board, the number of participants this year increased twofold compared with 2012. It showed the interest and passion for the intellectual sports of people in the city. This tournament also saw an improvement in the professional quality of the players as well as a strong competition among participating teams.

The attraction of the tournament was showed not only through the large number of the participants but also through the competitive atmosphere of matches. The coaches observed the chess moves of their players to give timely instructions. “All teams had a good preparation; therefore, our chess team did not meet the results as expected although we brought here our best players", said Phung Van Phat, coach of Phuoc Hai I Elementary School team.

In Chinese chess event, some outstanding chess players of Khanh Hoa Province took part in the tournament as the representatives for the sports teams of the communes and wards in the province, including Le Thanh Cong, Bui Dinh Phuong, Phan Vinh Tan, Ta Tu Phat, etc.

Reportedly, the chess movement strongly developed in Khanh Hoa Province thanks to its intellectuality and low investment cost. However, there are not many playgrounds for this sport at all levels held in the province. Therefore, such a tournament always attracts the interest of most of the chess players.
