The authorities in Khanh Hoa Province created a favorable condition for the province’s athletes by offering academic education programs to the athletes, helping them not worry about leaving school for competition. This also relieves the parents of those athletes about their children’s study.

According to Le Tan Cong, a teacher of Khanh Hoa Sports Technique Training Center, the athletes have to join training courses or sports tournaments; therefore, they do not have much time to attend classes until finishing the first semester’s examination. Thanks to the preference of the authorities and especially the enthusiasm of the teachers of the provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, the athletes finished their study programs.

The athletes have more difficulties in studying than the pupils in normal schools. Especially, in the early months of the school year, they have to practice hard for many important tournaments while trying to keep up the study, Le Tan Cong added.

Reportedly, most of the athletes who contributed much to the sports had to try hard to earn a living when they  were  no longer at the peak. Therefore, many parents prefer their children to focus on the study, resulting in a difficulty to enroll young athletes.

Acknowledging the importance of offering academic education to the athletes, in end 2012, the authorities of sports and education in Khanh Hoa Province held classes for the athletes right at the provincial Sports Technique Training Center. After one year, 100 percent of twelfth grade students graduated while other grades finished the study programs. In the 2013-2014 school year, the center has three classes for tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades with 77 pupils (30 pupils of the continuing education system and 47 ones of the high-school one).

According to Tran Quang Thuong, Director of Khanh Hoa Sports Technique Training Center, organizing academic classes for the athletes together with the devotion of the teachers as well as officers in the center helps the athletes to focus on training and competing in order to contribute to the sports in the province. In addition, the parents of the athletes can feel secure about their children’s future after retirement.
