UNDP provides 100 housing grants for typhoon-hit residents

On January 4, Nguyen Dac Tai, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and relevant agencies and department worked with representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on financing the reconstruction of 100 homes for residents affected by Typhoon Damrey in Khanh Hoa Province.
 
According to Khanh Hoa Red Cross, UNDP will provide VND50 million/ house for the construction of 100 houses, 20 in Van Ninh District, 20 in Dien Khanh District, 20 in Cam Lam, 20 in Khanh Vinh and 20 in Ninh Hoa Town. The beneficiaries are poor and marginally poor residents, especially vulnerable ones, whose shanty houses were destroyed in the typhoon.

Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Dac Tai thanked for the recovery aid from UNDP and expressed the hope for more support in the time to come to help residents in Khanh Hoa, especially in the hardest-hit communities of Van Ninh and Ninh Hoa. Nguyen Dac Tai assigned Khanh Hoa Red Cross to receive the assistance and cooperate with localities to deliver the relief assistance; and Khanh Hoa Department of Construction to assess the cost and design suitable houses.
 
Reportedly, the housing grants are in the project of the reconstruction of 300 homes in the 3 provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Quang Nam. Ealier, UNDP had provided more than VND13 billion to repair houses for over 3,400 typhoon-hit families.
