Khanh Hoa Trade Union of industrial and economic zones has held various activities in an effort to make sure all laborers, especially those with houses destroyed in Typhoon Damrey, will have a happy New Year holiday.

Phan Minh Hai, a worker at Thong Nhat United Swimwear Apparel Company, is speeding up his house repair funded by a nearly VND15 million housing grant from the local authority and Khanh Hoa Trade Union of industrial and economic zones. Similarly, thanks to the VND15 million relief from the local authority, Khanh Hoa Trade Union of industrial and economic zones and Lao Dong Newspaper, Pham Thi Thanh Tuyen, a worker at FLD Vietnam Company can afford her house reconstruction. “I feel moved to tears by the thought that we are going to have a new home,” she says.

The typhoon destroyed 70 homes and tore off several roofs on 2,700 homes of workers at 32 Trade Union affiliations. The Trade Union has suggested providing assistance for workers to help them recover from the natural disaster.
