On January 9, Dao Cong Thien, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee together with relevant departments and agencies had a working session with the World Bank’s mission on the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project (CCSEP).

According to the World Bank’s mission’s report, the CCSEP in Dong Hoi, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang and Phan Rang is in its starting stages. The project is waiting for capital allocation from the Government through the medium-term investment plan for 2018. Nha Trang City sub-project may receive the disbursement of USD10.95 million, including USD4.21 million from the World Bank and USD6.74 million from the reciprocal capital.

To facilitate the development of the project, the World Bank suggested the Government and Khanh Hoa People’s Committee would develop stand-by capital to pay for main work items in some urgent contracts. Bidding and technical works in basic components have finished.  The project is expected to take effective on January 25 and the World Bank plans to make disbursement in late February or early March 2018. Khanh Hoa Management Board for Development Projects has proposed the Government’s adding medium-term capital and making an advance of 10% of the capital for implementation of construction, installation and consultancy packages. The project has progressed with site clearance and compensation, VND 18.9 billion. The compensation for 5 other work items is going to be made.

After this meeting, provincial leaders will have a meeting on reciprocal funding support to carry out urgent items to start the project. This funding is allocated in the contingency budget. Khanh Hoa Province will continue working with the Government to accelerate the disbursement of medium-term funds to put the project into operation soon, says Dao Cong Thien.
