On December 14,  Tran Son Hai, Permanent Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee had a working session with Nguyen Thi Doan, Former Vice-President, Chairperson of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education (VAPE) on learning encouragement activities in Khanh Hoa Province. On this occasion, Khanh Hoa Association for Promoting & Supporting Educational Development (KHAPSED) granted VND200 million relief to students affected by Typhoon Damrey.
 
KHAPSED has gained satisfactory achievements with 9 branches at district-level, 140 branches at commune-level, 997 branches at village- and quarter-level (meeting 100% of the target). The November 2017 statistics show that KHAPSED has 198,900 members, up by 2,062 members compared with the year 2016. In 2017, Khanh Hoa Study Promotion Fund has raised more thanVND3 billion and granted 1,026 scholarships worth 1.148 billion awarded to prize-winners of the national excellent student contest, excellent students and needy teachers.

At present, Khanh Hoa Study Promotion Fund has preserved more than 16 billion funding. Associations for Promoting & Supporting Educational Development at district-levels and affiliations have raised over VND16.04 billion and awarded 47,781 scholarships totaling VND11.05 billion. 2,332 students’ families are reported to suffering from damages caused by the typhoon. KHAPSED has granted VND350 million aid (VND200 million funded by VAPE) to 300 students’ families heavily affected.
 
Speaking at the working session, Nguyen Thi Doan expressed sympathy and condolences to typhoon victims in Khanh Hoa, highly appreciated the achievements made by KHAPSED and requested for lifelong learning expansion, especially among adults by promoting workplace learning, and building community learning centers in rural and mountainous areas; emulation titles attached with learning requirement.
