Working on cooperation to develop smart Nha Trang City

On December 12, Le Duc Vinh, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee Chairman together with leaders of some local departments and agencies worked with U.S enterprises on cooperation to build Nha Trang City to become a smart city. Present at the event was Mary Tarnowka, U.S Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

In early 2017, Khanh Hoa signed a cooperation agreement with Microsoft Vietnam on developing a pilot project on building smart Nha Trang City. Accordingly, priority from now to 2020 is given to main sectors such as tourism, city planning and e-government. The pilot project is expected to develop in 2 phases. The first phase till the end of January 2018 focuses on building concept, ideas and models for the project; making procedures and preparing documents submitted to the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) for consideration and funding support to implement the project; The second phase (up to June, 2018) on building the pilot project and the overall implementation. Khanh Hoa is negotiating and signing contracts with PwC Vietnam to implement the first phase.


At the meeting, U.S enterprises introduced their strength and potentials in supplying solutions to build a smart city, assure traffic safety, food safety; measures for fire and explosion control and prevention; water quality analysis and waste water treatment.


At the working session, Le Duc Vinh highly appreciated U.S enterprises’ ideas and suggestions in building a smart city, adding that the enterprises could contact Khanh Hoa Department of Information & Communications to present their cooperation suggestions.
