Community First Aid Training Center, Khanh Hoa Red Cross has organized various activities to promote community safety and health.

Community first aid plays an important role in saving life. Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has given approval to the establishment of the Community First Aid Training Center, according to Ngo Minh Tu, Head of the Heath Care Board, Khanh Hoa Red Cross.
Since its foundation, the center has held between 20 and 25 courses for thousands of members and opened 216 first aid courses for 4,200 officials and employees at businesses in Khanh Hoa Province. Through the courses, participants have been provided basic first aid skills; accident and natural disaster prevention and control skills.
“Through the training courses, my staff can learn basic first aid techniques that help cope with emergency, especially for drowning. The skills are very essential for the development of marine tourism services,” says Le Phu Diep, Director of Monkey Island Tourist Site, Long Phu Tourist Company.
Besides, the center has expanded its first aid volunteer network at accident blackspots, focusing on building safe motorcycle taxi. At present, 35 community first aid locations have been maintained and developed with hundreds of volunteers, including 363 taxi drivers. The community first aid volunteers have been equipped with sufficient supplies and trained with basic first aid skills.
Over 8 years of operation, the first aid stations have provided emergency assistance for 9,340 cases of traffic accidents, drowning and work accidents and safely transported the victims to hospitals. Nguyen Van Xuan, a motorcycle taxi driver, a first aid member near Nha Trang University says “We are provided basic first aid training when joining the membership. We have given first aid to many road accident victims.”
Together with activities mentioned above, in 2016, the center has cooperated with Khanh Hoa Traffic Safety Board to hold anti-drowning and swimming classes for 50 kids. In addition, thanks to the support from the National Red Cross, the center has offered life-jackets to nearly 1,000 students in Vinh Truong Ward and Phuoc Long Ward, etc.
Community first aid is one of the main tasks of Khanh Hoa Red Cross. Much effort has been focused on methods to improve community first aid with further training, investment in infrastructures for first aid training, establishment of first aid spots in communities; cooperation with businesses in Khanh Hoa to provide first aid and labor safety training and join effort in emergency response and rescue in cases of natural disasters, etc, according to Tran Nguyen Luong, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Red Cross.
