Being supported finance by Japan, from 2016 up to now, Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company has replaced 400 old transformers with new ones which save electricity and partly protect environment.

Current grid of Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company has many transformers used for 15 – 22 years, therefore its operation has depressed, causing big power loss and problems. In 2015, Central Power Corporation entrusted Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company to reduce power loss by 0.2%/year. To reach the target, beside measures in technologies and business, investment in the grid is needed. Replacing aged transformers with amorphous ones is the chosen way.

Price of amorphous transformers is 30% higher than that of normal ones. In early 2016, as the Government of Japan was sponsoring amorphous transformers to decrease greenhouse emissions according to the Kyoto Protocol, the company contacted with Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC) and Thibidi Company to ask for sponsorship of 30 – 50% of the expenditure to buy amorphous transformers for Vietnam’s grid.
