Building Nha Trang as tourist center of international stature

Over 40 years since Nha Trang became a city from a township (March 30, 1977 – March 30, 2017), the city has developed strongly with high-rise buildings, new urban areas, good traffic infrastructures, etc. Nha Trang is striving for a tourist city of international stature.

Initially, Nha Trang City was small and poort with several streets. Entering the period of innovation, the city developed more promptly with projects and works. Nha Trang was recognized as a second-grade city in 1999, and then a first-grade one in 2009.
 
According to Chairman of Nha Trang City People’s Committee, in recent years, the city has been urbanized fast, its appearance and infrastructures have been improved remarkably. New urban areas like Vinh Diem Trung, VCN Phuoc Hai, Phuoc Long, Le Hong Phong 1, Le Hong Phong 2, My Gia, An Binh Tan, etc., which are forming with comprehensive infrastructures, have contributed into the development of the city.

According to the urban development plan of Khanh Hoa Province till 2020 and the orientation to 2030, the whole Khanh Hoa Province will become a first-grade urban area directly under the central government in 2015, and Nha Trang will have three inner districts. The Resolution No. 10 by the provincial Party Committee on speeding up the socioeconomic development in Nha Trang till 2020 defines Nha Trang to become a center city of the province.
 
 
Then, in service, tourism and urban areas, the city will build up Nha Trang center for commerce, residential areas, services, finance and tourism, and the provincial administrative area. 50% of the certificated tourist projects will have started operation by 2020. In addition, residential areas along the southern bank of Cai River and in the west of Nha Trang in connection with Dien Khanh District will be set up to reduce population density in inner Nha Trang, forming satellite urban sectors and develop the riverside. Besides, Nha Trang Port will be build up to become a passenger port and have services to develop tourism and call investment.
 
About traffic infrastructures, projects of Phong Chau road, Cao Ba Quat – Cau Lung road, roads connecting new urban sectors will be finished. About the urban infrastructures, the flood drainage from Phu Vinh Bridge to Tac River, in Nam Hon Khi, the new administrative area of the province, etc. will be finished. Resettlement areas like Hon Ro II, Phuoc Ha, Le Hong Phong III, Ngoc Hiep, etc. will be also finished.
 
In the coming time, Nha Trang City will develop more strongly, especially as the Prime Minister agreed the province’s suggestion to adjust 13 sectors and the city planning till 2025 in order to be suitable with the city’s development. Developing the advantages in tourism, Nha Trang is expected to become a tourist center of international stature.
