Industry of Khanh Hoa Province keeps growing

Industry of Khanh Hoa Province kept developing in 2016. In 2017, with many projects going to operation, the province's industry is forecast to keep good growth.

A lot of big projects in execution
 
According to a report of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, Index of Industrial Production (IIP) of the province in 2016 rose by 7.5% over that in 2015; the industrial production value hit VND44,480 billion, increasing by 8.6% over than in 2015. Some main products of Khanh Hoa industry were ship, fishery, beer, beverage, refined sugar, tobacco, textile garmet, mechanics, electricity, etc. In 2016, industrial production enterprises delivered nearly VND3,400 billion to the State budget, including nearly VND3,400 billion by Khanh Viet Corporation, VND470 billion by Khanh Hoa Salangane Nests Company, VND77 billion from Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard Co., Ltd., VND30 billion by Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, etc.

Currently, a lot of projects of industries and infrastructures for industry are in execution. The biggest is Van Phong Thermal Power Plant (in Ninh Phuoc Commune, Ninh Hoa Township) by the Japanese group Sumitomo with capacity of 1,320MW in the first phase, which is planned to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2017. The Sai Gon beer plant (in Dien Phu Commune, Dien Khanh District), whose first phase with productivity of 50 million liters a year were finished in 2016, is forwarded its second phase to raise productivity to 100 million liters a year. In Suoi Dau Industrial Zone, Steinsvik Vietnam Co., Ltd.,  fully owned by Steinsvik Group AS in Norway has put the second phase of a workshop manufacturing mechanical equipment into operation, raising its total investment to USD8 million with total productivity of 1,800 tons of products/year. Khanh Hoa Salangane Nests Company is promptly developing Song Cau Industrial Group in Khanh Vinh District with 40 hectares to welcome investors in the end of this year. Trang E Industrial Group (in Cam Lam District), covering an area of 115 hectares, is being invested infrastructure by Khanh Viet Corporation in order to draw secondary investors in 2017. Ninh Thuy Industrial Zone in Ninh Hoa Township has also been invested infrastructure for 113 hectares of the first phase. It has attracted 12 projects with total registered investment of VND853 billion.
 
With the results in 2016 and the current situation of projects, the province’s industry is expected to make remarkable progress.
 
Prospects for 2017
 
Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Industry and Trade forecasts that the province’s industry will face some difficulties in 2017 such as fewer ship building orders and low growth rate of tobacco industry. However, projects in Suoi Dau Industrial Zone, Ninh Thuy Industrial Zone and industrial groups have been operating stably. Therefore, the province’s industry is expected to keep good growth rate in 2017.
 
To keep the growth rate, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade is promptly finishing Planning for Khanh Hoa industry in the period of 2015 – 2020, and tendency till 2030, Planning for Khanh Hoa power till 2025, and view to 2035; Planning for Khanh Hoa petroleum in the period of 2016 – 2025, and view to 2030. Besides, the department will call investment to fill in Suoi Dau Industrial Zone and Ninh Thuy Industrial Zone, expand more 25 hectares for Dien Phu Industrial Group, speed up infrastructure construction in Trang E Industrial Group and Song Cau Industrial Group. The department will also set up incentive policies for industrial investors and submit them to the provincial People’s Committee.
 
Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Ngoc Minh said that to forward the development of industry, the department has suggested the provincial People’s Committee to direct other departments to solve difficulties for infrastructure investors of industrial zones to speed up progress of investment.
