Khanh Hoa tourism overcomes difficulties and reaches targets of 2016

Year targets reached

According to Tran Son Hai, the Permanent Vice-chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and Head of the provincial Tourism Development Steering Board, the tourism has overcome many difficulties in 2016. The provincial Department of Tourism has just established from a part of the former Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. “We have to admit our embarrass in managing tourism in the early year. But the end year, it has done well again. Therefore, tourism has still kept a good growth rate”, Tran Son Hai assessed. 

In 2016, total tourism turnover is estimated to be VND8,300 billion, a 20% increase year-on-year. Tourists total about 4.5 million (a 11.7% rise year-on-year), including 1.1 million foreign ones (a 18% rise).

Also in the year, the province has received 42 international cruise ships with 79,666 passengers going shore. This figure has risen by 31.4% year-on-year. The province has more 27 hotels and resorts with 3,426 new rooms, raising the figures of the whole provinces to 638 hotels and resorts with 23,693 rooms, including 85 3-5 star hotels and resorts with 12,742 rooms (rising by 2,119 rooms over 2015).

Targets for 2017

Targets of the province’s tourism for 2017 are 5.2 tourists (including 1.3 foreign ones) and VND9,200 billion in the total turnover of tourism.

According to the provincial Tourism Development Steering Board, to reach the targets, it’s required to support and solve difficulties for businesses, step up construction investment progress, develop infrastructures and projects for tourism, improve service quality more, diversify tourist products, etc.

 

Besides, tourism promotion and destination marketing need to be improved…
