Cam Ranh Port was established from November 1, 1991. From November, 1991 to September, 2007, it was a State-own business called Ba Ngoi Port. In October, 2007, the port was handed over to the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines). In April, 2009, Ba Ngoi Port was changed into a limited company, and renamed Cam Ranh Port. In June, 2015, under the project on restructuring and equitizing Vinalines’ businesses in the period of 2010 – 2015 approved by the Prime Minister, Cam Ranh Port was equitized and has operated as a joint stock company since June 25, 2015.
Over 25 years, Cam Ranh Port has got good achievement in production and business. Up to now, the port has two wharfs with total length of 600 meters which can receive a 50,000DWT or 80,000DWT vessel, a 30,000DWT one and some under 5,000DWT ones loading cargo at the same time. Beside infrastructures, other vehicles and equipment have been invested. The port owns two tug boats with total capacity of 2,500CV, 10 shore cranes (10 – 40 MT), 2 electronic scale bridges and other equipment.

| With good achievement, Cam Ranh was granted many noble titles, including Third-class Labor Medal (in 2005) and Second-class Labor Medal (in 2010). The company’s labor union was also granted Third-class Labor Medal in 2010. |
At present, the port main services are cargo handling, tallying and packing; warehouse/yard services and cargo storages; transport services in short distances; shipping agency; tug assistances to ocean vessels; supply of fuel oil; and other maritime services as requested by customers.
Cargo throughput of the port has risen year by year. The current figure is about 2 million tons each year. Security at the port has been kept.
According to leaders of Cam Ranh Port Joint Stock Company, for a better service, the port will improve the human resource’s quality, apply more information technologies in production and business, intensify market research, customer search and customer service, etc. The port also will continue projects, including purchase of handling equipments, construction of warehouses/open storage and technical facilities, and phase 4 of berth No.2.
