Fishery export of Khanh Hoa kept growth

Fishery export of the province in the first six months of the year had a lot of advantages. Huynh Long Quan, deputy director of Nha Trang Seafoods – F17 Joint Stock Company, revealed that the company exported 2,500 tons of fishery worth USD21 million in the first half of the year. In comparison with the same period of last year, export turnover of the companu rose by 30% - 40%. Main importers of the company were the US (50%), Europe (20%), Korea (10%), etc. The company bought materials (mainly shrimps) from the southern provinces and localities in the province; therefore, the company avoided influence from fish deaths in 4 province in the Central. “We confirm all our materials have been caught in southern provinces and their quality have been checked”, Quan said.
 

Similarly, some other seafood export companies like Hai Vuong, Tin Thinh, etc. kept their production. Most of them purchased materials from southern provinces. Dang Thi Thu Thanh, director of Sustainable Seafood Limited Company, the company’s export saw a slight growth in the first half of 2016. The company’ materials were purchased from provinces Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa, and they are always checked strictly before being exported.

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade’s report, fishery export yield of the whole province in the first six months of 2016 hit 36,700 tons, a 12.5% increase year-on-year; fishery export turnover: USD186.7 million, a 6.75% rise year-on-year. Meanwhile, the province imported only 23,900 tons of seafood worth USD64.2 million, a 6.6% decrease year-on-year.
 
Dang Xuan Toan, Head of Export Import Administration and International Economy Integration under the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said, “Domestic fishing and aquaculture during the past time have got high yield. Seafood export businesses have mainly purchased local materials. As a result, fishery import has decreased. To improve competition and expand markets, the businesses have invested modern machines to process products.”
