drawing portrait in the street has appeared in Nha Trang. This new kind of art is liked by locals and tourists.
Along the seaside street Tran Phu are nearly ten portrait painters. Most of them are students and former students of Nha Trang Cultural Art and Tourist College while some come from Da Lat City and Thua Thien Hue Province.

It takes only about ten to thirty minutes for the street painters to complete a portrait. A lot of pedestrians stop for a while, showing their admiration while watching the street painters drawing portraits in a weak light condition and a very short time.
Nam and Loan, an overseas Vietnamese couple exclaimed “Wonderful!” after looking at a portrait of them drawn by young painter Phuoc Thinh. Nam shared “We are overseas Vietnamese Australian. Street portraiture has been widespread in Australia and many countries in the world; however, it has just appeared in some cities in Vietnam. The street painters in Nha Trang City are very young but their drawing is as skilful as other street painters in foreign countries. A potrait costs us only VND50,000. It's a too cheap price."

Not only locals or domestic tourists but also foreign tourists praise the talent of the street painters in Nha Trang City. Nikita’s parents (Russian) were so admired the polished drawing of young painter Nguyen Thi Tien who has just graduated from university, and they asked her to draw a portrait for their son. Nikita was very pleased with the portrait of himself, acclaiming “It looks like me. The painter's drawing is great.”
Being a “model” in the street of a strange region is a new and interesting experience for tourists beside taking souvenir photos by cameras which becomes too ordinary. This unique culture brings one more joy for tourists when travelling to Nha Trang.
