The medical and hospitalization expenses at Cho Ray Hospital were up to nearly VND300 million but Gai’s illness did not progress as expected. Gai’s family spent more than VND100 million which was Keu’s savings from fishing, on Gai’s treatment. Keu also had to sell his motorcycle and borrowed more than VND70 million from the neighbors to help his wife to have medical treatment. However, they could not afford the treatment cost and Keu had to bring his wife home.

Gai’s son has been separated from his mother and fed by formula milk under the construction of the doctor since birth to prevent malnutrition.

At present, the cancer cells of Gai’s have spread to the lung and kidney. She is now in poor health condition and is prone to paralysis.
